Prior to its founding in March of 1859, the area that is now Weehawken is known to have hosted the famous duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr in 1804. Since then, the city has also been home to the 25-acre Eldorado Amusement Park (destroyed in 1898), and has become a major hub of transportation for the Greater New York City area. Weehawken is a burgeoning metropolis in the Port Imperial area that enjoys an exceptional location along the Hudson River, an unparalleled view of the Manhattan skyline, a wide variety of commuter options and much much more.
